Planet (acoustic)

by John Maksym

/

about

There are some relationships in life that we cherish and hold dear to our hearts. These are the people who lift us up, and help to ignite our inner flame, inspiring us to become the best versions of ourselves and do great things in our lifetime.

Then there are other relationships that are soul-sucking, barrier infested, eternally pessimistic and destined for nothing greater than failure, and nothing less than distress.

Planet is an unapologetic, yet subtle, “forget you” for lack of a 4-letter word. It is not about reflecting on the one that got away, but rather, the one you couldn't get far enough away from!

It’s a really nice sounding mean song.

LYRICS

Look at the trees
How beautiful green is
I should’ve been greener
The night I met you
Gone are the things
That I took for granted
But granted, my mistakes
Were flowers in bloom

You make me depreciate in value
I don’t wanna call you
I don’t wanna be caught dead on the same planet as you

It might be just me
But the pit of my stomach
Feels tied like a pretzel
A knotted salted wound
You’re pulling on strings
Attached to my organs
I try to pretend, I
Don’t feel it at all

You make me depreciate in value
I don’t wanna call you
I don’t wanna be caught dead on the same planet as you

You took my fragile heart and
Beat it to a pulp
And fed it to the sharks

But I’ll be alright
Yeah, I’ll be just fine
Not afraid of the hard times
I’ve made it through lonely nights
I’ll fly away
No reason to stay here
You’ve dirtied a clean place
You ruined the best part of waking up here

You make me depreciate in value
I don’t wanna call you
I don’t wanna be caught dead on the same planet…

I’ll be alright
Yeah, I’ll be just fine
Not afraid of the hard times
I’ve made it through lonely nights
I’ll fly away
No reason to stay here
You’ve dirtied a clean place
You ruined the best part of waking up here

You make me depreciate in value
I don’t wanna call you
I don’t wanna be caught dead on the same planet as you

John Maksym Kitchener, Ontario

Kitchener, Ontario-native John Maksym spent his childhood jumping on furniture, singing along to every Springsteen hit. He would don a red cape and pretend to be on the big stage, entertaining the masses. Fast forward and that kid has become a well-respected recording artist, songwriter, and performer—trading in his red cape for a fresh jacket, and hitting those big stages to entertain the masses. ... more
